Represented in the fountains’ sculptures are: Abundance on the left, the Ocean, with Neptune, directing sea horses being ridden by Tritons riding, in the middle, and Good Health on the right

The Trevi Fountains are an example of the 15th century revival of the Roman custom of building a handsome fountain at the endpoint of an aqueduct. The Fountains of Trevi mark the endpoint of the Aqua Vergine aqueduct.
