With beautiful vaulted ceilings, it contains some of the finest medieval paintings and sculpture and a spectacular floor of 13th century tiles.
 

Built around 1250 by Royal Masons, the Chapter House was used by Benedictine monks for their daily meetings and as a meeting place of the King’s Great Council and the Commons, predecessors of today’s parliament.
