More recently, quai des Orfèvres is famous as being the address of the Direction Régionale de Police Judiciaire de Paris, situated at #36, and for the film of the same title released in 1947, by Henri-Georges Clouzot.

Quai des Orfèvres, with pont Neuf in the foreground, seen from pont des Arts. Built from 1580 to 1643, the street takes its name from the goldsmiths and jewelers whose shops were located there in the 16th century.
