This is what remained of this beautiful tree after the city of Paris found it necessary to cut down the weeping willow which seemed to be in fine health otherwise.

A weeping willow tree in Square de l’Île de France, in front of pont Saint-Louis, March 16th 2009. The tree was cut down June 29, 2009, a new weeping willow was planted March 15th 2010.
