People having lunch, coffee and other beverages at sidewalk tables outside the Café de Flore, opened in 1885 on boulevard Saint-Germain. The café became the hangout for many of France’s leading literary lights in the 1930s, then Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir made it their headquarters.
