The fountains are located in Piazza Trevi, whose name derives from the words tre vie or “three streets”

The Fountain of Trevi was commissioned in 1640 by Pope Urban VIII and finished in 1762. It was built upon the rear façade of Palazzo dei duchi di Poli.
