How to order prints…

Twisted, weird, odd pictures of Paris, not for everyone. Naturally my web site has quite a commercial aspect to it, and for the most part I display the “prettiest” photographs that are most likely to sell. But this isn’t the only kind of photography I like. Here are pictures of the bizarre, eccentric, freakish and quirky sides of the City of Lights that I’ve put to the side, so as to avoid shocking my usual visitors.

All of these pictures are available as high-resolution TIFF scan files, and naturally, any of these pictures can be converted to black and white. Many others were taken at each photo shoot, so there are plenty of other choices if you don’t see exactly what you are looking for. Photography shoots can also be arranged in Paris and the surrounding regions…

He was there for at least an hour like this. I took this picture, he woke up a few moments later, looked behind, and walked away with a disgusted look on his face.

About six million skeletons were transferred to the Catacombs, starting two hundred years ago, for health reasons.

He picked a very unfortunate place to fall asleep.

Yet another example of my technique of taking pictures at waist level. The policeman in the foreground appears to be looking in the lens. What’s certain is that I made a point of not looking at him, or the other policemen.

He headed out the door without keys, shoes, wallet, just him and his toga and the artistical universe of place du Tertre.

I took this picture from across the canal with a strong telephoto lens: A homeless man with a bleeding leg on quai de Valmy, during the «Enfants de Don Quichotte» encampment of homeless people along canal Saint-Martin, January 8th 2007.

His pals on the bench just behind saw me taking the picture, told him, and he started hitting me up for money. One of them insisted after I told him I wouldn’t give him money, so I told him to get lost, and everyone around supported me.

I was in front of the cathedral when I heard someone screaming halfway down the street. I approached quickly and found her bellowing all kinds of incomprehensible things about French president Nicolas Sarkozy. She rummaged around the trash bag, found some napkins, started to hike up her skirt, then said, “No, that won’t do, that guy is going to take my picture”.

A man in his early 20s playing with a button on his fly in square des Innocents. Though I am one, I’ve never understood why some guys have that nagging urge to play with their fly in public.

I was with a woman from the United States that day, she said, “now there’s a good Catholic…”.

I was teaching that day, looking at this guy lying on the sidewalk, and was so surprised to see him pull out a toy gun and pretend to shoot a pigeon in front of the movie theater.

For most people, just one cigarette at a time suffices.

They have a liquor licence so everything should be in order for the main course, and they offer take out service too!

I didn’t grow up speaking French, though right away I can see plenty of spelling and grammar errors.

La chance sourit aux audacieux, tu dois prendre des risques [illisible] dont tu as envie et que te fait peur, tu le fais, Fais d’abord ce que te fait peur, la vie te récompense.

I was fascinated at first by the little dog with the metal muzzle.

After leaving I showed the picture to my friends and we speculated on what the equivalent might be in the women’s bathroom.
