Purchasing Information

It takes  a lot of work  to make a photograph look good as a scan on a computer monitor. In fact, there are plenty of pictures I don’t put on my web site because they don’t look like much as a scan. But I can assure you, enlargements of these photographs look far better than the scans you see on these web pages.

You may  Purchase Prints in Five Sizes:  from 8.3x11.7 inches for $100, up to 30x45 inches for $300. This includes shipping and handling. The pictures may be printed with or without margins, on glossy or matte-finish paper, as you prefer.

In a certain way, I’m obliged to offer prints in sizes traditionally found in Europe, since these are the sizes at which photo labs here make enlargements. I can make prints at American sizes (11x14", 16x20", 20x24", etc), or at any other size you wish.

Traditional American sizes have never been good for 35 mm photography, because the ratios are wrong. Considering that a 35 mm negative is 24x36 mm, this gives a size ratio of 2 to 3, meaning that the print sizes would be better at 8x12", 11x16.5", 20x30" and so forth.

In any case, please do keep in mind, prints of these photographs can be be made any dimensions you like, to fit a certain picture frame, or for any other reason. Enlargements bigger than those listed above are possible, with formats going up to wall sizes. I don’t handle framing; I prefer to let people make their own decisions about what will surround my pictures while hanging on their walls.

 Quantity Discounts:  subsequent prints at 8.3x11.7 inches are $80, and subsequent prints at 12x18 inches are $130. “Subsequent” applies whether you ask for color or black and white photographs, and no matter which sizes you ask for. So if you would like one print at 13x19 inches, that would be $150, while you could have one print at 8.3x11.7 inches, and another print at 12x18 inches, for a total of $210 ($80 + $130). If you would like to order prints of more than one photograph, you may do so on this order form.

I realize these rates can seem a bit steep for photographic prints you haven’t seen with your own eyes. Because of this, I offer  Sample Prints at 5x7 inches for $20.  You can order prints at this size to see the photographic quality you would have in enlargements at the larger sizes.

You’re working directly with the artist and I print all my work to order to keep my overhead down and pass the savings on to, well, both of us!
