The previous version of the sacristy, designed by Jacques-Germain Soufflot in 1751, was damaged beyond repair in the riots of July 1830 and February 1831.

A forest of triangles above stained glass windows and doors on the southern façade and sacristy of Notre-Dame Cathedral, seen from quai de Montebello. The current version of Notre-Dame’s sacristy, designed by Eugène Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc and Jean-Baptiste-Antoine Lassus, was built from 1845 to 1850.
