The wings of the Palais de Chaillot were built on the foundations of the former building, the Palais du Trocadéro.

The eastern wing of the Palais de Chaillot, built for the Exposition Internationale of 1937, on the designs of architects Louis-Hippolyte Boileau, Jacques Carlu and Léon Azéma.
