The town Vicus Catulliacus was named Saint-Denis in honor of the bishop, and the first church was built on the site where he collapsed in the late 400s by Sainte-Geneviève.
 

Saint-Denis, the first bishop of Paris, walked to Vicus Catulliacus with his head in his hands after being beheaded in Montmartre in the year 273.
