Two sections of the church nave were destroyed by a shell shot by a German long distance canon, fired from the environs of Meaux, a town the east of Paris.
 

The stained glass window in front of the memorial to the victims of the bombardement of église Saint-Gervais-Saint Protais, Holy Friday, March 29th 1918, killing 91 and wounding 68 others.
