Yolande Christina Gigliotti was born in Cairo, won the Miss Egypt beauty contest in 1954 and moved to Paris, where her life as a star started with motion pictures.
 

A statue of Dalida in Montmartre, a few steps from where she lived. The square was named in her memory in 1997, at the corner of rue de l’Abreuvoir and rue de Girardon.
