The 10-foot-tall replica of the gilded fence, known as the «Grille Royale» that was torn down and melted after the 1789 revolution.
 

When first built, the fence around the royal domain of Versailles was 43 kilometers in length. Before the revolution, the gardens and woods of Versailles covered 8,000 hectares, this area today is 875 hectares.
