Behind the altar, a narrow opening lets a mysterious beam of light shine on the white marble statue of the Virgin, sculpted by Augustin Pajou.
 

Attributed to Giovanni Nicolo Servandoni, the Chapel of the Holy Virgin was finished in 1777, eleven years after his death, by architect Charles de Wailly.
