Legend has it that Prune is named after one of the restaurant’s owners, who was the first parking-ticket writer in Paris. The clientele is just as mismatched as the furniture.
 

Young bohemian types outside Chez Prune, at 36, rue Beaurepaire, next to canal Saint-Martin. The former «bar-tabac» was opened under new management in summer of 1998, and has been a runaway hit since.
